QUOTE:
In the life of Phoebe Hamann, there thrived a sense of duty to community, and a love of children, family and church.  Flowing through it all was the music. She felt strongly that the arts should be nourished by society and that they contributed to being a well-rounded person.

Among her many achievements was the creation of programs that brought music into the Lincoln Public Schools.  In 1970 she founded Theatre Arts for Youth (TAFY) and in 1985 she founded Strings Alliance In Lincoln (SAIL) Music Camp.  In 1992, Phoebe organized the LollyPop Concerts that brought members of the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra into the schools.

Her other involvements included serving on the Board of Directors of the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra, Nebraska Arts Council, Lincoln Arts Council, LIED Center, and the UNL Alumni Association, among others. Phoebe was an organizer and was able to inspire others to action through her passion.

The Hamann family has always believed in philanthropic gifting, and it is our hope that this bequest through LCF will help to make a difference in the community for many decades to come.
