A bequest is one of the simplest ways to make a charitable gift. A bequest is a gift given to Lincoln Community Foundation (LCF) through your Will or Trust.
You can designate a specific dollar amount, a specific piece of property (such as your home, farm or investment property), or you can define your bequest as a percentage of your estate. A charitable bequest or trust distribution is deductible for federal estate and Nebraska inheritance tax purposes.
If you already have a Will or Trust, your attorney can prepare a simple codicil or trust amendment to make a gift to LCF.
Your document should direct your gift to “Lincoln Community Foundation, Inc. of Lincoln, Nebraska”. No additional detail is necessary in your Will or Trust. We will help you develop a fund agreement to document your charitable instructions. This fund agreement may be amended from time to time as your charitable interests change or expand.
