During her teaching career, Marguerite took a two-year leave of absence to study in New York City with pianist Ernest Hutcheson and accompanied many other renowned musicians in performances. Marguerite taught piano privately for many years in Lincoln following her departure from the School of Music. She kept two grand pianos in her home so she could participate in duo piano whenever the opportunity arose.
