My greatest interest was water conservation and control and the development of better agriculture products and farm stock.
Ralph's father, S.E. Solomon, built the first irrigation system in the Culbertson area and promoted irrigation aggressively to the benefit of western Nebraska. He also was the first editor of a bi-weekly newspaper in the region. Ralph's father was responsible for bringing 38 families from Germany to Culbertson to farm.
