Scholarships
The Lincoln Community Foundation manages a variety of scholarship funds, established by caring donors who desired to help students achieve their dreams of obtaining a college education. Please review the information below to determine which application form to submit, paying careful attention to the deadline dates. Late submissions cannot be considered.
By filling out the Preliminary Scholarship Application below, students are considered for every award offered through the Lincoln Community Foundation that they qualify for. There is no listing of scholarships available on our website. Students no longer need to research the criteria for each award or fill out separate applications for each scholarship they wish to be considered for. Students should only apply for an award by name if they have been instructed to do so.
The Foundation administers several scholarships with varying criteria. Some awards are based on financial need, while others are based on academic success, geographic location, or college major. The Foundation currently has scholarships available specifically for the following majors: Art, Art History, Aviation, Education, Insurance, Law, Medicine, Museumology, and Nursing. The Foundation also has a scholarship specifically for Lincoln graduates attending Doane College in Crete, Nebraska. However, since not all scholarships require a specific major or attendance at a specific school, all interested students are encouraged to apply.
Certain scholarships, open to a very specific population, are publicized within certain churches, employers, etc., and may have different instructions than the ones listed below. Students should apply for these awards by name and follow the application instructions of their employer, church, etc.
The Lincoln Community Foundation administers a special scholarship award for graduating seniors in Lincoln, Nebraska who uphold a keen interest in citizenship, and actively participate and demonstrate enthusiasm for community betterment and leadership.
To apply, fill out the Preliminary Scholarship Application form and attach:
-Your official high school transcript -A letter of recommendation from a high school teacher, counselor, or administrator, discussing your interest in citizenship -An original essay (1-3 pages, double-spaced) explaining your interest in citizenship, community betterment, and positive leadership. Essay should be in a 12-point standard font with 1-inch margins. -Mail all four items together to: Lincoln Community Foundation Attn: Program Coordinator 215 Centennial Mall South, Ste. 100 Lincoln, NE 68508 -Application must be received by April 30, 2010.
