The Lincoln Community Foundation's Benefactor program was established in 1968 as a means for thoughtful individuals to support the operations of the Foundation. Those designated as Benefactors may be the donors themselves or others that the donors wish to honor or memorialize.
A minimum contribution of $50,000 to the Benefactor program allows the naming of an individual, family, business or foundation as a Benefactor of the Lincoln Community Foundation. Gifts to the Benefactor program are added to the Lincoln Community Foundation's operating endowment, which ensures that the mission and good works of the Lincoln Community Foundation will continue in perpetuity.
Gifts to the Benefactor program may be given in the form of cash, appreciated securities, life insurance, an irrevocable pledge or other assets. The gift may be a single, one-time contribution or arrangements may be made for a testamentary pledge, or a pledge payable over a certain period of time, interest free.
Gifts to the Lincoln Community Foundation are eligible for an income tax deduction in the year in which the gift is given. To the extent such a gift reduces the size of the donor's estate, it can reduce federal estate and gift taxes. Additionally, a gift of appreciated securities can carry an extra tax benefit because it typically qualifies for a deduction based on the current value of the securities without liability for capital gains taxes.
The Benefactor program offers three options for the permanent recognition of a named Benefactor:
 |
- Glass panel inside the Lincoln Community Foundation Building
For a gift of $50,000, you may select one individual's name to be placed on the illuminated glass panels inside the Lincoln Community Foundation Building. |
 |
- Granite tile on the Lincoln Foundation Garden walkway
For a gift of $50,000, you may select an individual, family, business or foundation name to be placed in the granite tiles of the Lincoln Foundation Garden walkway. |
 |
- Granite plaque on the Lincoln Foundation Garden wall
For a gift of $100,000, you may select an individual, family, business or foundation name to be placed on the granite plaques on the west wall of the Lincoln Foundation Garden. |
With each recognition option above, the named Benefactor is included in the Benefactor display in the lobby of the Lincoln Community Foundation Building. Available for use by lobby visitors, this computerized display offers a touch-screen control for finding and viewing any individual Benefactor's photo and biographical information. This information is also available on our web site under Benefactor Search.
