Book of Memory

The Lincoln Community Foundation Book of Memory is a time-honored Lincoln tradition. It was established by the Foundation in 1958 as a way of honoring deceased loved ones and friends while also providing financial support for educational and charitable purposes in the Lincoln community.

Viewing the Book of Memory
The Book of Memory is located in the lobby of the Lincoln Community Foundation office. It is accessible for browsing during regular office hours.

Contributions
Contributions to the Book of Memory are added to the Book of Memory Endowment Fund, a discretionary grant fund that provides grants to nonprofit organizations in the Lincoln and Lancaster County community. Grant recipients are determined by the Foundation's Distribution Committee and ratified by the Board of Directors. Contributions to the Book of Memory are tax deductible.

  1. Individuals wishing to utilize the services of the Book of Memory may do so by completing the Book of Memory Form (located to the right) and sending this form, along with a contribution of $10 or more, to the Foundation office. Please make checks payable to the Lincoln Community Foundation (no cash please).

  2. The Lincoln Community Foundation will notify the family of the deceased in writing, making them aware that a contribution has been made in memory of their loved one. No mention is made of the amount of the gift.

  3. You (as donor) will receive a receipt for the contribution and a copy of the letter sent to the family of the deceased.

  4. The name of the deceased will be professionally inscribed in the Book of Memory within three to six months after a donation is received. In cases where multiple gifts are received for the same name, the name is inscribed only once.
