Lincoln South of Downtown
The South of Downtown area of Lincoln is a very important and unique part of our city. A civic center that houses government, business and residential occupants, South of Downtown has one of the most diverse populations in the city. It is also challenged with some of the highest rates of people living in poverty, highest rates of crime, unemployment, school turnover and declining property values.
This initiative focuses on community engagement and input to foster economic revitalization with long-term community empowerment and leadership. A master plan was created. The first step in the implementation was to create the Lincoln South of Downtown Community Development Organization.
