Developing a charitable plan that meets a donor’s financial and charitable needs can be a daunting task. For a professional advisor, the opportunity to help a client achieve their philanthropic goals is both a privilege and a challenge.
The Lincoln Community Foundation would like to be a resource for prospective donors and their professional advisors. Our in-depth understanding of the many facets of charitable giving, which can offer specific tax benefits, can help donors achieve financial, personal or business goals. We can also develop illustrations of charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts and other gift transactions that will help donors and their advisors as they consider various planning alternatives.
Donors and their attorneys, accountants and investment advisors are encouraged to call the Foundation with questions, or to arrange a personal meeting with a member of our professional staff.
Donors have several options to consider as they explore giving through the Foundation. These include:
- The type of fund that best meets their charitable giving goal
- The type of gifts to make as they initiate and grow their funds, and
- How they will involve themselves, and other family members, in the giving process.
Private Fund Option
Donors sometimes think that a private foundation provides their only option for long-term involvement with assets designated for charitable purposes. In reality, a donor advised fund administered through the Foundation also provides ways for donors to stay engaged in giving, while sometimes offering greater tax benefits and avoiding many of the hassles and costs of private foundation management.
Our expert staff welcomes the opportunity to consult with prospective donors and their advisors who would like to discuss the pros and cons of each approach.
We’re proud to say that, over the years, the Foundation has earned a reputation for integrity and service to donors. We’ve developed unique resources for professional advisors to help their clients craft charitable giving plans.
Our goal at the Lincoln Community Foundation is simple: to help donors find the solution that works best for them. If you have any questions, please contact us for more information.
